Meme |9:09 PM|
I managed to spread the Dan Bern album to at least one more person, and possibly 2. I had been playing 50 eggs in the car while Erin was here, and it turns out the end credits of "Zero Effect" have Dan Bern's "One Dance" as the music. Erin loved it, and she thinks her old roomate will as well. I feel good about that, I burned some copies, and let her know he has another album out as well.

Now I'm just trying to figure out what to do with my friday night. I already saw a movie with Vorpal, grabbed a nice margarita from Joe and Tara, and picked up some new books.
Oh, I found a local female (finally, someone local) to model the damn shirts when they are printed. Thank goodness.

Fare Well |5:14 PM|
I want to bitch a little about goodbyes.
I hate long ones, I avoid them at all costs. The problem is that if I personally do not make the goodbye short, I'll stand there for hours, maybe days, trying to say goodbye properly. I think my policy of "See you later" and then leaving it at that is the best way to avoid a drawn out, akward tear through all manner of emotions. This is for both people involved in any important goodbye. I just dropped Erin off at the airport, and we didn't have much time for talking. I dropped her off at curbside, and did my best to express how much it was tearing me apart to let her go, all in the space of "I'll miss you" and "I'll be in touch"
I keep saying tear, it's the best possible description of the feeling I'm having. It's a giant, double barbed fishhook, pulling on my guts. It's not sorrow, it's a desire to say everything we didn't get to say, discuss all the stupid or interesting things we didn't get to, it's a need to experience more days together. This is why I cannot stand long goodbyes. They are always an attempt to add signifigance or an attempt to express emotions you have no hope of getting across in the time you have. Best to let it be understood, best to part ways and talk later, and take care of whatever has come up.

Recent crap |2:13 PM|
I went and saw "8 legged freaks" last night. I really recommend it, it's highly amusing. The spiders are relatively creepy, but so bizarre that my standard reaction of violence towards all things arachnid did not stir while watching the film.

You might recall a tale I related some time ago in which I was wearing a cat-urine covered shirt. I did not know it was a stinky button-down due to my having an incredibly bad cold at the time. Only halfway to work, when my decongestant started to kick in, did I notice the pervasive stench of urine. I liked the shirt, so I had washed it several times. (In case you're wondering, I did arrange for another shirt to be available at work before I would go to the office).
I wore this shirt for the first time in ages today. It wasn't until about an hour after work had started that I noticed the stink. I can only assume it took some sweat and time to release the tiny lockets of piss-perfume from the threads of my clothing.
I had to borrow money, run quickly down to the company store (all while trying to avoid being smelled by other humans) and bought a T-shirt. I didn't realize this until I had thrown away my previous shirt, but this shirt made the nipple piercings I have incredibly prominent. Shit, the ability to hide these things is one of the reasons I got them.
I now had to make my way back to the office and the safety of its doors without being spotted as the deviant, flesh ripping monster that I so clearly was.
Erin is leaving town tommorow. It's going to be so damned boring around here without her. Christ, I better get the digital cable turned off or that's all I'm going to do after she leaves.

Ketchup |11:56 PM|
Blogger publishing still down. I'm trying to come up with something to solve that, but I'm afraid I'm actually going to have to write a bunch of batch files that cause odd things to happen. I'll probably swing that at work tommorow.
My long weekend was damned busy, and tiring. From the entertainment standpoint, besides Erin W. coming down to visit, a buddy of mine named Vince came down because he was "bored". He was short on cash though, seeing as he just hopped on a plane (thanks to Captain Kirk). We played laser tag at one point, so desperate for entertainment options that did not involve drinking alcohol. We broke down on that front on numerous occasions. We've been shopping, we've rented films, we cooked and baked. I decided against the project of "making the most complicated French dish imaginable" and settled on whipping up fajitas. The secret to fajitas, fry everything. The vegtables, the bread, nearby insects, don't clean the pan until geyzers of grease are burning your flesh constantly. I love that corn tortillas are so damned cheap. Mmmmm. Fried bread wraps.
I am now in possesion of an enormous inflatable bed that will likely replace my current bed, seeing as the current one makes enough noise to wake the neighbors whenever someone shifts their weight in it.

I've got other stuff to say, but this is only a short break from my amazing schedule of events this evening, and I don't much feel like updating if I can't publish properly. I'll hook you up later, you literary voyeurs. Oh, for a hazy picture of Erin take a look at the portals.
