Pan-Social Projects |3:36 PM|
The past few weeks have been scant on updates, so I appreciate anyone who still checks this out. I cannot deny that having an audience is an important part of this online ego fest.
I was at the Bitter End last night, a bar visit with Portal, Alex, and a few others that is becoming a tradition.
This past weekend saw the casting call for the next movie I'm making. My role as producer needs to be done a little better, but that's why I'm reviewing film festivals and dates today that Joe found for me. After I take Portal to another freelance job I'll fix the gallery of pictures so they have names, not handles. Whoops.
One thing that is concerning me is the message of the latest movie. It isn't registered with the WGA so I won't give away any real plot points, but the
"bad guy" is implied to get away with it. It's not that I disagree in principle with it, but what does a person come away from the movie thinking? I guess the gruesome nature of the film is what is making me contemplate this. I won't be showing it to my folks, and probably not my girlfriend. I don't want a moral or anything trite like that. I'll have to discuss it with Joe.
This past weekend also saw actual work on the deathmatch level Vid and I are making. We've got a hell of an idea for the level, a merging of concepts that I think will be a solid contender in the upcoming contest. Details at this point would be pointless and boring, so if it does make it to at least "Beta" keep an eye out for it on Half Life Death Match servers near you.
Speaking of servers, Dante/Will has agreed to help me learn some PHP and SQL programming. Like a cross-media fiction project with Vorpal, it's going to have to be put on hold until I can devote real time to it, my schedule is too damn full. Saying I'm too busy to take on an exciting project or to help someone out is unusual for me, as anyone who has had to wait to be given a ride someplace by me because I was off helping a stranded kitten or something can attest.
Also on that note, Dante may be able to offer some server space and some bandwidth to test the deathmatch level.
He also taught me a bit about Chess over the weekend. That was an amusing game, and I'll have to play again in the near future.
